The Community Outreach and Education program provides hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) learning experiences in communities disproportionately impacted by air pollution. Through interactive activities and on-the-ground engagement, the program shares accessible air quality information, connects residents with helpful resources, and creates space for community members to voice their air quality concerns. This direct feedback helps guide and support meaningful action on local air quality issues.
If you would like to have us provide air quality education, resources, and information at a community event, at a school, or with a community group, please reach out to us at apcdoutreach@sdapcd.org.

Air quality is a reflection of how much pollution is in our air at
any given time. Every day, the San Diego County Air Pollution Control
District (SDAPCD) uses air quality
monitors to detect specific pollutants throughout San Diego
County. Daily air quality reports are based in part on how much
pollution is detected by these monitors.
Air quality is measured with the Air Quality Index (AQI). It looks a bit like a thermometer, but instead of temperature, it indicates how much pollution is in the air and corresponding safe levels of outside physical activity.
Check the current AQI in your region of San Diego and use it to inform your activity-level for the day.
