The Environmental Justice Partnership (EJP) for Clean Air is an innovative, first‑of‑its‑kind initiative of the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District (SDAPCD). For the first time, SDAPCD is formally partnering with community-based organizations (CBOs) to work directly with the communities they serve. In collaboration with the California Air Resources Board (CARB), eight CBOs, and residents across the region, the EJP expands SDAPCD’s work beyond traditional Community Air Protection Program areas and focuses on improving air quality and health outcomes in ten communities disproportionately impacted by air pollution.
Environmental Partnership Goals:
Due to the unexpected loss of EPA funding, SDAPCD must pause the purchase of sensor-based air monitors, remaining workshops, and new educational materials. We remain fully committed to this project and to the communities we serve. In the meantime, we are seeking new funding, strengthening partnerships, and preparing materials so we can quickly restart. Workshops and monitoring will resume as soon as funding is secured.
