Extreme Heat Event - Emergency Proclamation

Governor Newsom signed an emergency proclamation in response to the Extreme Heat Event.  The proclamation addresses the need to reduce the strain on the energy infrastructure and the need to increase energy capacity during the Extreme Heat Event.  As a result, stationary generators, portable generators, and auxiliary engines on ocean-going vessels are allowed to be used until 11:59 p.m. on June 19, 2021, pursuant to the emergency event/emergency use provisions of the applicable regulations. Ships that are berthed at California ports between June 16, 2021 and June 19, 2021 shall not be required to use shore power until after 11:59 pm on June 22, 2021.

Any facility that operates in violation of permitting requirements shall notify the District within 48 hours.  In addition, any facility that operates in violation shall report additional use, and additional hours of operation to the District within 30 days of this Order.
