Air Quality & Health

Although air quality levels have improved dramatically during the past three decades, air pollution still affects the health of many San Diego County residents.

Some people are particularly susceptible to health damage from polluted air.  This includes young children whose respiratory systems are still developing; those who suffer from existing heart and respiratory diseases; and healthy adults who exercise vigorously.

Both the state and federal governments have conducted extensive medical studies to evaluate the health risks.   Information on the health effects of various air pollutants can be found using the following links:
