Lawnmower Trade-In a Great Success!
785 people were able to “go green” while mowing their grass by participating in the 11th Annual Lawnmower Trade- In Event, which took place on Saturday, May 1, 2010. The event was as popular as ever, as the 785 lawnmowers were gone in 3.5 hours, with demand exceeding supply.
Hosted by County Supervisor Ron Roberts for more than a decade, this program allows any resident of San Diego County to turn in their working gas-powered lawn mower and purchase a new cordless rechargeable electric mower at a discounted price.
By participating in this annual event, you can eliminate the air pollution from your gas-powered lawn mower, which emits as much air pollution in one hour as driving a car 200 miles. Supervisor Roberts notes, “In the last decade we have provided 5,180 mowers and eliminated more than 150 tons of air pollution – equivalent to taking 175,800 automobiles off the road!”
Lastly, your neighbors will like it, too, as these mowers are very quiet!
