Community Outreach

The District supports the community and organizations which align with our mission to improve air quality to protect public health and the environment. Contact our Community Outreach Office to submit a request to have APCD attend your event and/or promote your event on our Twitter page.

School and Youth Programs  

The District supports science-based programs that educate youth and families about the impacts of air pollution. The school and youth programs listed below aim to teach students about where air pollution comes from and ways to reduce it in San Diego County:  

Calendar Contest

Entry Form

The District needs artists from our local schools to submit drawings with clean air themes for our calendar contest. Students attending charter schools or homeschool are welcome to participate.

Contest Rules

  • Artwork must be attached to the entry form and postmarked by November 22, 2017.
  • Artwork should be your original drawing and demonstrate why it is important to have clean air or how we keep our air clean.
  • Artwork may include a clean air message.
  • Artwork must be on an 8 1/2" by 11" piece of white paper, turned on its side (landscape).
  • Do not fold or staple artwork.

Speaker Requests

District staff will come to your school and talk to students about air quality and protecting public health. Community Outreach staff work with teachers to coordinate the best date and time that works with their classroom schedule. Contact the Community Outreach Office to schedule a speaker for your school. (We also give presentations to other youth group programs.)
